Commercial Product Support Manager (Mining)
As member of the Toromont family since 2016, I'm the Mining division's go-to Commercial parts and service manager. In that capacity I lead a talented team of parts and service reps from Manitoba to Newfoundland, helping customers achieve and exceed their equipment & production KPIs. This group is a team of trusted advisors who take a “boots on the ground” approach to help you and your operation. From the planning stages of a mine, to operation to reclamation & teardown, this dynamic team can help you in all stages of your mine.
"We have a dynamic team who truly has your best interests at the forefront. Your success is our success. We want our partners to successfully achieve their equipment goals. Most importantly, we can play a critical role in helping you meet your tonnage targets. "

INSIGHTS
"We have worked through several site assessments that have delivered tremendous results. One mine site in particular had achieved over 90% mechanical availability with their fleet of LHDs and trucks as a result of the study. An improvement of nearly 30% availability! We would consider this best in class for an underground fleet."

INSIGHTS
By leveraging advanced fleet management systems, we can improve material moved per day by 15%, reduce fuel consumption by 10%, lower maintenance costs and the mine's carbon footprint.
The mining sector has witnessed a dramatic transformation over the centuries, from manual labor to mechanization, and now, to the digital age. The introduction of AI and machine learning marked a significant shift, leading to increased efficiency, reduced operational costs, and improved safety measures. I oversaw the Côté Gold mine's automation push, integrating 23 autonomous haul trucks (Cat 793F), two hydraulic shovels (Cat 6060), three front-end loaders (Cat 994), six autonomous drills (Epiroc Pit Viper 231), and other supporting equipment into their operations.

My role involves leveraging data, Caterpillar software and methodology to help clients select the optimal fleet for their greenfield or brownfield projects. That includes reviewing machine configurations on behalf of clients, and making sure that equipment operates efficiently and safely. I also perform on-site studies after delivery to confirm that the equipment performs effectively and is the right fit for the operation, with ongoing reviews to ensure proper machine selection and operation after delivery. I have been with the dealership for over 20 years.
"Very few people have the opportunity to travel to, and work with, as many mining sites as I do. That means I regularly get a 360 degree view of a variety of mining operations – and I use that experience to guide customers in machine selection and operation."

INSIGHT
A customer needed to find the right equipment to rip salt in an underground mine and thought a Cat D8 might be the right fit. After visiting the site and performing some productivity assessments, we recommended a more cost-effective solution - a ripping attachment to complement the mine's new 374 excavators. The result: a very happy customer who appreciated that we had their best interests in mind, instead of simply recommending more expensive equipment.

Key Account Manager - Mining Business Development
My role: I joined the Toromont organization in 2016 through the Leaders of Tomorrow program, and I have spent the majority of my career in the Mining Division. I currently support Toromont’s longterm strategy in greenfield, brownfield and expansion mine sites across all of Eastern Canada, including surface and underground mining. I partner closely with the Mining Division’s Application Engineering team on mine design/equipment analysis, front-end cost per tonne studies and site scale studies, while also supporting existing mine site operations throughout Eastern Canada.
We stand firmly behind what we commit to our customers, with an unmatched history of follow-through and success in eastern Canadian mining. We’re proud to support our mining partners by helping them hit their key milestones and development path as they build their mining project on-time and on-budget, whether it is a surface or underground operation. We're right there with you from the early exploration phase, right through to PEA, PFS, FS, final construction phases and beyond.
8 TONNE

INSIGHT
"We recently performed a scale study for an underground mining customer, focusing on understanding the consistent payload shortfalls being experienced at site on a new fleet. Over the course of a study and through collaborative recommendations, payload was improved by 8 tonnes per truck cycle, which had significant implications for the customers’ mining schedule. This translated into thousands more tonnes moved, less trucks required for future expansion and vastly improved the economics for the mine site. This follow through on fleet performance was critical for the future of the operation.”

"One of our mining clients was planning a switch to an LTE network. Up to that point, our underground mining machines worked using WiFi. Working closely with the customer, our specialists got to work developing novel ways to integrate existing technology into an innovative network solution. It's the sort of thing that makes Toromont special: a willingness to adapt to the needs of the client."

As the Wabush-region branch manager since 2022, I work to serve customers in both construction and mining activities, supporting six active mines in the area. My team and I make sure our clients have the equipment fleets they need, leading customer engagement on expected spares, maintenance and rebuild planning, along with quick reaction team mechanisms to mitigate and reduce impacts of unplanned events.
We worked with the customer to introduce a fleet of next generation production machines into their operation - a big change in worksite practices requiring expert support and resource planning. Our team kicked off a fleet optimization project and within 6 months we had improved availability for these productions machines by around 20%, meeting the customer's immediate targets and increasing the site's productive capacity for the long term.
