At Toromont Cat, we are committed to preparing the next generation. That’s why we invest in and prioritize several training programs, scholarships and internships.
We have put in place a 4-year training program for apprentice technicians designed for mechanics who have already received basic mechanic training for heavy equipment.
In addition to training on Caterpillar heavy equipment or generators, the program supports apprentices throughout the certification process. They can complete both their training and development while working at Toromont Cat. With their technician’s certificate in hand, they will enjoy more career opportunities – in the shop, at worksites or on rotation – and can even migrate to another field such as training, sales or management if that is what they wish to do.

For more than 35 years, Toromont Cat and its Leaders of Tomorrow program has been training tomorrow’s management rock stars and industry leaders. Even our company’s former president and CEO, Scott Medhurst, and our current COO Joel Couture are program graduates.
The 18 month program is designed to offer practical training on different company services and activities. We believe the best classroom is the job itself, so everyone who goes through our program will graduate with a comprehensive technical and economic understanding of the industry, supply systems, plus the products, services, and key players in the industry.

The experience that you’ll gain during your co-op internship will prepare you for a solid career once you obtain your diploma. Plus, you’ll discover the rewarding world of Toromont Cat.
Created exclusively for high-school students wishing to learn about mechanics or students enrolled at vocational training centres, the program gives them a general idea of what working in the heavy equipment trade is like. Upon successfully completing their internship and professional training, a student can then continue on as an apprentice at Toromont Cat.

Each year, dozens of $2,000 scholarships are awarded to selected applicants from recognized institutions such as vocational training centre
